The food and hospitality industry in Pune expressed concern about the Rs140 hike in the rate of commercial LPG cylinders but welcomed the announcement of the National Mission on Food Processing.

The LPG rate hike is going to result in another price hike on the hotel menu cards.

Hoteliers’ Association of Pune president Ganesh Shetty said, “The increase in the rate of LPG cylinders is definitely going to hit our business. Prices of raw material used in the hotel industry have already shot up due to inflation and further price rise announced in the budget will force us to increase the rate of food items once again. The industry had recently revised the rates and a further hike is surely going to make a 5-10% cut in the business.”

Chordia Food Products Ltd managing director Pradeep Chordia said, “The new centrally-funded National Mission on Food Processing, to be launched in cooperation with state governments, is good news for farmers also.”
