The anti-encroachment department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday took action against a large number of illegal hoardings. However, it failed to lodge even one police complaint against the offenders.

DNA, in its October 4 edition ('PMC flexes muscle against illegal hoardings'), stated that the civic body had decided to take action against illegal hoardings put up by on the occasion of Navratri festival. Deputy municipal commissioner, Ramesh Shelar, had stated that criminal complaints would be lodged against offenders.

In the offensive undertaken by the civic body on Tuesday, 3 billboards, 493 boards, 487 banners, 48 flexes and 108 posters were taken down. "The drive was undertaken across the city by the respective ward offices," said Shelar.

When asked about the failure of the civic body to lodge police complaints, he said the complaints would be filed once the drive is completed in the next two days.
