Mahesh Pathak has submitted his report to the state election commissioner regarding the controversial ceremony Ajit Pawar.
Municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak has submitted his report to the state election commissioner (SEC), Neela Satyanarayan, regarding the controversial ground-breaking ceremony performed by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, after the model code of conduct came into effect on January 3. Satyanarayan on Thursday said she would go through the report and action would be taken next week.
Satyanarayan has started a statewide tour to inspect preparations for the elections and on Thursday she was in Pune, where she interacted with the media. She said, “The report was sent to me on Wednesday night, but since I was preparing for my Pune visit, I could not see it. Therefore, today the Pune Municipal Corporation commissioner handed over the report to me.”
The ground-breaking ceremony for the multi-layer flyover near Sancheti Bridge was done by the NCP leader and deputy chief minister on January 3 after the model code of conduct for elections came into effect.
The Shiv Sena had raised strong objection to the ceremony and had filed a written complaint regarding the violation of the code.
Notices were then sent to Pawar, mayor Mohansingh Rajpal, MLC Anil Bhosale, PMC additional city engineer Vivek Kharwadkar and municipal secretary Sunil Parkhi, asking for an explanation, to which they sent their replies.
Pawar sent his reply to the SEC on January 11, admitting that there was a delay in sending his reply.
When Satyanarayan was asked if the SEC had received any complaint against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena founder, Raj Thackeray regarding his speech, she said, “The Samajwadi Party has given a complaint in that regard. Now we are examining the whole issue and further action will be taken after knowing the gravity of the issue.”
