Pune builder killed in Nigdi road mishap

On Tuesday in a gory road accident, a well-known Pune builder and four others were killed when a speeding water tanker collided with his car.

In a gory road accident, well-known Pune builder, Vimal Kumar Jain, and four others were killed on Tuesday when a speeding water tanker collided with his Mercedes Benz car (MH12 GF2079) on the Madhukar Pawale flyover near Nigdi at 3 pm.

The water tanker jumped the road divider and first hit a  motorcycle, killing a couple, Laxman Thakar (51) and
his wife Hausabai (49) of Sudumbre. 

After colliding with the motorcycle, the water tanker landed on the roof of the car behind the two-wheeler.

The impact of the collision killed Jain (62) in the front seat, his driver Mahendra Gawli (45) and a real estate agent, Sampat Ingale (63), who was seated behind. Jain’s associate, Shriram Sapre, escaped with serious injuries and has been admitted in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Nigdi.

Nigdi police said that the car occupants were headed towards Mumbai, while the water tanker was headed for Pune. Senior police inspector Nandkishor Bhosale told DNA, “The tanker driver, Kamble, lost control over his vehicle on the slope of the bridge, jumped the divider and first ran over the motorcycle riders before colliding with the car.”

The motorcyclist, Thakar, was employed with the health department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal
Corporation (PCMC).
