After karun dakhvla (We did it), it is now time to say karun dakhvinar (We will do it) for the grand alliance of Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Republican Party of India (RPI).

The alliance on Thursday launched its manifesto (vachannama) for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

The 10-page document deals with the burning issues faced by Mumbaikars such as water, health, lack of infrastructure, roads and flyovers. Finding it hard to keep pace with the ever-growing population of Mumbai, the alliance has again gone on a promise-making spree, which they said would be fulfilled in five years if it manages to retain power.

Sudhir Munguntiwar, state president of the BJP, announced the formation of an all-party supervisory committee after the BMC elections are won. “The committee will meet once a month and will keep a tab on whether the promises made are followed,” he said.

“What we have promised in the manifesto is something which we can achieve. We have not made any extraordinary claims. Certain people speak a lot, but do nothing. We are not that kind of people. We did what we had said, and we will do what we are saying now,” said Uddhav Thackeray, Sena executive president.
