In the last three weeks, the 85,544 TYBCom students of  the University of Mumbai have experienced everything from last minute issuance of hall-tickets to a change of examination centres. Yet, it appears that the cause of their problems may not be brought to justice anytime soon.

Under pressure from all stake-holders for the goof-ups before the TYBCom exams, the University of Mumbai had suspended Centre of Computing facility chief Dr Majumdar and formed a one-man committee to probe the mistakes. Dr MG Shirhatti, chairman of board of studies (management) was given a week, from March 19, to complete his investigations. Three weeks later, Majumdar is still under suspension but there is no news of the probe report.

When questioned about the delayed investigation, Dr Shirhatti said, “We have started the investigation but the two holidays that came in between proved a spoiler. Director Dr Subhash Deo is also implementing few changes in the exam house.” He refused to give any deadline but insisted that the probe would be completed soon. “This investigation will anyway not affect students,” he added.

The re-examination of their Marketing and Human Resources Management (MHRM) will be on April 11.
