BJP Friday alleged that Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who Friday completed one year in office, has taken the state back by 50 years.
"Chavan who completed one year as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra has taken the state 50 years back," state BJP chief Sudhir Mungantiwar said in a press release issued here.
Chavan was given time to understand state politics. But he has failed even after a year, he said.
"The state government has failed after Chavan took over the Chief Minister's post. He was described as a brilliant student, but his inability to take decisions has affected the government," he said.
The state had many expectations from the Chief Minister as he possessed a clean image and efficient administrative skills. However, in reality the people had to face a setback, the BJP leader said.
Chavan, who spent most of his political life in the corridors of power in Delhi, was catapulted to the highest political office in his home state from the relative obscurity of the backroom of the Prime Minister's office, after his predecessor Ashok Chavan had to step down in the wake of the Adarsh Housing Society controversy.
