The president of the Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh, Usha Tambe, will be the new president of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal, the apex body responsible for organising Marathi literary meets.

She will assume the charge on April 1.
The meeting of the office bearers of Mahamandal took place in Pune on Thursday night where the decision was taken to make Tambe the new president.
With Tambe becoming the new president, the Mahamandal office will shift from Aurangabad to Mumbai for the next three years. The tenure of outgoing president Kautikrao Thale-Patil will be over on March 31.
The Mumbai representative of the Mahamandal, Ujjwala Mehendale will be the new secretary of the Mahamndal and Gurunath Dalvi will be the new treasurer. Kapoor Wasnik from Chhattisgarh will be the new vice-president of the Mahamndal. The Mahandal constitution has a condition that the vice-president should be elected from outside the state.
Although Thale-Patil had ealier informed that the third World Marathi literary meet would take place in London, some of the members said that no such decision was taken at the meeting. Tambe made it clear that the Mahamandal would take the decision on the issue after she assumes charge. When asked whether the Mahamndal had decided on London as the next venue for the World meet, She replied in the negative.
It may be recalled that Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh and Vidarbha Sahitya Sangha had boycotted Dubai World Marathi literary meet. Tambe had made it clear that all the necessary technicalities have to be completed before arriving at any decision on the World meet.
