Preetii scores a ‘brownie’

With the arrest of Agripada police inspector Jalinder Ramane by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), aspiring actress Preetii Jaiin claims to have earned a brownie. Ramane, who filed the case against Preetii for allegedly conspiring to kill filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 22,000 from a Mumbra resident, Firoz Mulla on Tuesday.

“I cannot rule out the possibility that he would have accepted money to file a case against me,” said Preetii. “He was the foundation stone in the case and the arrest has questioned his credibility,” she said.

Ramane was also in charge of the preliminary inquiry in the case. Preetii’s lawyer Nilesh Pawaskar also pointed out that with the arrest, there is a possibility that the whole investigation may be tainted. “It questions the fairness of the enquiries conducted. It directly or indirectly affects the case,” said Pawaskar.

However, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Santosh Rastogi who has been supervising the case denies any compromise in the case.
