Power cut angers Pune citizens

Intermittent power outage on Monday left the residents of Aundh, Ganeshkhind Road and other areas sweltering in the mid-summer heat. Mahadiscom PRO Nishikant Raut claimed that it was a planned outage and not load shedding.

“We had already announced two-hour afternoon outage due to emergency maintenance work to be undertaken at the 132KW Rahatani feeder,” he said.

Raut’s claim of a planned outage did not cut much ice with the citizens. Senior citizen Saraswati Raman said, “As the lift was not working, I had a tough time to climb the stairs carrying a grocery bag after shopping.”
