The draft voter list for the upcoming Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) civic poll 2012 has over the last two days received nearly 26 objections, namely regarding the voters’ names in wrong panels, age difference and wrong pictures.

The election cell had declared the list of 1,00,091 voters on January 12 for the 64 panels in the PCMC and had invited suggestions and objections till January 17.

PCMC additional commissioner, Prakash Kadam, on Monday said that the cell does have the authority to make any rectification in the draft list regarding the absence and wrong names of voters.

Meanwhile, 678 complaints were received from citizens through the helpline started by the civic body recently. Nearly 576 complaints have been sorted out and the work on the rest is in progress, Kadam said.

Political parties have expressed their resentment over the errors in the draft list. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena have lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and demanded an extension in the date for filing suggestions and objections regarding the list.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Congress president, Bhausaheb Bhoir, alleged that deliberate confusion has been created over the list, and it may affect the election results.
