No TDR -TB cases in Mumbai: Prithviraj Chavan

Maharashtra Chief Minister said that there were no cases of Totally Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (TDR-TB) in Mumbai and urged citizens not to panic.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today said that there were no cases of Totally Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (TDR-TB) in Mumbai and urged citizens not to panic.

He was speaking at a review meeting at which a team of doctors sent by Union Health Ministry to ascertain facts about the reported cases in a private city hospital was also present.

Chavan said the team found that there were no cases of TDR-TB patients.

Chavan said treatment of TB patients at the hospitals here was in right direction and even the central team has observed that there are no patients who are not responding to the treatment adding the patients are being treated for tuberculosis free of cost with funds provided by the central government.

There are 12 Drug Resistant Tuberculosis patients in Hinduja hospital. Four of the seven checked, were responding to treatment while the condition of other three is stable.
