The city can look forward to a relatively cooler weekend, as rains in northern India have brought down the soaring temperatures across the country. Cities and towns in Maharashtra are expected to record moderate day time temperatures for the next few days.
Director (weather central), India Meteorological Department (IMD), PCS Rao told DNA on Friday that western disturbances in northern India had resulted in rainfall across much of northern India.

Rao said that this situation would continue for the next three days, resulting in the lowering of day temperatures across India and Maharashtra in the next three days.

Rao predicted that Pune could have a maximum temperature of 35 or even less in the next three days and cities like Jalgaon which had recorded close to 45 degrees last week could drop to 40 degrees over the weekend.

According to Rao, the rains in northern India had prevented the flow of heat to parts of west and central India. He predicted that the day temperatures in North India would also drop over the weekend owing to the rain.

South India could also expect scattered rainfall, especially in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala over the weekend.
