A 25-year-old IT professional, who went missing last week while on his way to his office in Andheri (E), resurfaced in Haridwar on Monday.

Sources said Kuldeep Singh Chandel was found in an unconscious state near the Rudki area in Haridwar. A public phone booth operator called the police.

Nandkishore Bhatt, a Haridwar police constable, said, “Chandel had a short memory loss at that time. But, he remembered the phone numbers of his home and that’s how we contacted his parents.”  Two cellphones and Rs13,000 which were on his person, were missing, the police said.

Chandel, a BTech (IT) professional, had shifted to Bangalore for training from his hometown in Kanpur. He arrived in Mumbai on November 6 for more training at an IT company in the Marol area of Andheri (E) and was staying with a relative in Borivli.

He went missing on November 10. The last to reportedly hear from him was a friend in Noida, who claimed that Chandel had complained in a cellphone conversation that he would reach office late as the auto driver was taking him for a ride. After that his phones were switched off.

“How Chandel reached Haridwar is a mystery. I think someone would have spiked his food and taken away his cash and mobile phones,” said Jitendra Singh, a family friend.
