A day after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray received death threats from a 'Bihari' organisation, the Maharashtra government has provided him with 'Y' security cover.

"Earlier this week, Raj received a letter from a Bihari organisation which said one of their members would kill him (Raj) as he is dividing the nation," Raj's lawyer Shayaji Nagare told PTI. The letter was signed by one Ashok Kumar Singh, who claimed to be the President of the organisation.

A complaint was lodged regarding this at the Shivaji Park police station in central Mumbai, Nagare said. Following the threats, the government decided to give Raj 'Y' security. Raj will now be protected by two carbine-weilding cops, police sources said.
