Kolhapur police seize fake notes

The Kolhapur police on Friday seized fake currency with face value of Rs60,000 in Karad from the house of three suspects, who were arrested on Thursday in Kolhapur while allegedly circulating the currency.

The police have so far seized fake currency with face value of Rs1.06 lakh from the suspects identified as Samir Sheikh, Shafiulla Sheikh and Mohammad Sheikh, all in the age-group of 35 to 40 years and natives of West Bengal.

The suspects were in Kolhapur on Thursday night for allegedly circulating the counterfeit notes. When a quarrel broke out among them in Shivaji Chowk area, an informer heard them and tipped off the Laxmipuri police.

The suspects were residing in a flat in Karad which the police raided on Friday afternoon and seized 38 notes with face value of Rs500 and 41 notes with face value of Rs1,000.
