A 25-year-old man from Kalyan here was allegedly burnt alive and disposed of by a group of persons, police said today.

According to Police Inspector RV Buva of Bazarpeth police station, victim Harish Sultan Shah, a resident of Hamal Wadi Bunder Road was working with a group involved in petty jobs.

Shah, who was not happy with the job was reluctant to continue and expressed his desire to leave. Annoyed over the decision, his master and other members in the group reached Shah's house in the last week of February and forcibly took him away in a car, Buva said.

He was allegedly beaten and then set on fire after pouring petrol, police said.

Shah was then disposed of at an unknown location with a view to destroy evidence, they said.

The accused have been booked under sections 302, 201 rw 34 of the IPC and a case was registered recently based on a complaint by his mother Sahin Sultan Shah.

The alleged accused are: Amzadbhai Yusuf Pathan, Barkhat Bhai Yusuf Pathan, Rehmat Bhai Yusuf Pathan, Bandya, Kalia, Javoor Pathan, Anif Menda and Ishwar all residents of Bail Bazar, police said.

Searches are on for the body as well as the accused.
