A small diary found from the Juhu flat of the murdered senior citizen finally helped the police crack the case, about nine days after the incident.

One of the accused has been detained by the Juhu police and  is being brought to the city for further investigation.

As per the facts of the case, Bharti Shah, 68, an interior designer, was found murdered inside her flat on September 12 when her elder sister came to visit her. She was unmarried and stayed alone. The police from day one had been suspecting two of her newly hired servants, who had gone missing from the day of the incident. What made the police’s job  difficult was the fact that nobody had any detail about these servants.

A source from Juhu police station said that the police made their first breakthrough recently when they found the diary from the victim’s house. The diary had full details of all the servants hired by her in the past few months. Interestingly, the victim had made more detailed notings about a man who had sought job on the day of the incident.

Based on the information derived from the diary, a police team was sent to Bihar and after a couple of days’ wait there, the police managed to get hold of that accused. It is still not clear whether the other two servants who went missing since the day of the murder are also involved in the crime, or they just fled on seeing their employer lying in a pool of blood.
