It is shocking, but true. The body of Infosys executive Vikram Poddar was lying unattended on the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway for 17 hours on March 14. Even as he was battling for his life, the alleged murderers went on a shopping spree using his credit cards.

Another shocking factor was that investigations revealed that the four absconding accused were unaware of his death till the police actually reached their residence.

A senior police official said, “The Pune Crime Branch tracked purchases made by the accused using the vicitm’s credit card and reached the residence of the accused, Kevin Dias, at Marol. It came to light subsequently that Kevin was at home and gave the police a slip.”

“The accused also purchased cellphone chips using the vicitm’s credit card while providing their original addresses which has foxed the police,” the official said.

The police wonder why the family did not call up the victim after he went missing for long hours. The police are on the lookout for Dias along with his stepbrother Vicky Monterio, Ravi and a bar waitress identified as Varsha for the alleged murder.

“Gavin (Kevin’s brother) ran away from home due to police pressure. He is not involved yet the police harassed him. I don’t know about any girl named Varsha,” said Jacintha Dias, mother of Kevin Dias.
