India will regain glory in coming decades: Abhay Firodia

The chairman of Force Motors, Abhay Firodia, said educational institutes are the future of India and the country will get back its glory within the next 30-40 years, as it was in the past, before the renaissance in the West.

Firodia was addressing a gathering on Tuesday after naming the newly built auditorium of College of Nursing and College of Physiotherapy after his grandfather, Kundanmal Sobhachand Firodia, on the Deccan Education Society (DES) campus on Thursday.

Kundanmal studied at Fergusson College between 1903 and 1907.

Expressing happiness that the auditorium was named after his grandfather, Abhay Firodia said, “From 1700 to 1900, Western countries established quality educational institutes. However, countries like India and China lagged as they did not establish great institutes to inculcate new and professional knowledge.’’

“The lack of development of educational institutes hinders growth of a healthy society, but grand old educational institutes like DES will change the future of the country in the coming decades,’’ he said.

Chairman of governing body of DES, Ajit Patwardhan, said the DES Law College would be renamed after Navalmal Firodia, a renowned industrialist and father of Abhay Firodia, once the formalities are completed.

The vice-chairman of the governing body of the DES, Vikas Kakatkar, and secretary Shrikrushna Kanitkar, were also present.
