After declaring the candidates’ list for the civic elections on Sunday, MNS chief Raj Thackeray maintained that he has only one target — the BMC.

“I will not be a king-maker this time, I will be the king.”

Referring to the Shiv Sena attack on a Marathi daily’s office on Saturday, he claimed that these are signs of a “sore loser”.

“They have lost the battle psychologically. This is not Shiv Shahi (rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji), but Moglai (rule of Moghuls),” said Thackeray. “Does their mouthpiece (Saamana) think twice before publishing news that maligns others’ image?”

Releasing the list of candidates for 208 of the total 227 wards, he said: “My target is neither the Mahayuti (the Sena, BJP and RPI combine) nor Maha-Aghadi (united front of Congress, NCP and remaining Dalit groups). My target is the BMC.”

Of the seven corporators from the MNS, only one candidate — Vanita Ghag from ward 34 from Kurar village — has been repeated.

The party gave preference to the other spouses of three sitting corporators for the civic polls. It gave the ticket for ward 154 (Sakinaka) to Shaila Lande’s husband Dilip; ward 128 (Kamraj Nagar) to Parameshwar Kadam’s wife Mangal and ward 184 (Dadar station) to Snehal Jadhav’s husband Sudhir.
