Builders are playing with citizens’ lives.

They are not able to keep the city mosquito free, so the civic body has to do the job, a section of corporators said at the standing committee meet recently.

Ahsish Shelar, BJP group leader, demanded that the civic body publish a white paper as malaria patients were increasing near construction sites.

Byculla, Elphistone, Parel, Marol and Chandivli have been identified as the most risk-prone areas for the disease caused by a parasite transmitted by mosquitoes due to heavy construction activity.

"It is the builder’s duty to control mosquito breeding, but they have failed,” he said.
