After the state earned Rs6.48 crore from the World Cup matches as entertainment tax, the government is expecting to mop up Rs15 crore from the ongoing IPL season.
The legislative council on Monday passed the Mumbai Entertainment (Improvement) Bill, 2011, for a better entertainment tax structure in the state.
Giving a reply during the discussion on the bill, minister of state for revenue Prakash Solanke said that out of the seven IPL matches organised at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium, a deposit of Rs7.3 crore had been collected. The expected revenue out of these matches was Rs9.50 crore.
