While candidates contesting the civic polls on party tickets are crorepatis, the kin of gangsters in the fray are not that rich by any measure. For one, don-turned-politician Arun Gawli’s daughter Geeta and sister-in-law Vandana, sitting corporators of Akhil Bharatiya Sena contesting from ward no 205 and 204 respectively.

Vandana, in her affidavit, has declared among her assets moveable property worth Rs20.75 lakh, including Rs2.25 lakh cash and 390gm jewellery. Surprisingly, she does not own a vehicle. She has immovable assets of Rs 4.75 lakh, which include 39 gunthas of agricultural land in Dapoli and six rooms in the city.

But Geeta is a crorepati, with movable asset worth Rs1.35 crore. This includes Rs2 lakh in cash, apart from owning jewellery worth Rs6 lakh and a vehicle worth Rs32 lakh. She owns a flat worth Rs2.16 lakh, but also owes Rs10.80 lakh bank loan.

Sabareddy Mallesh Bora, brother of Chhota Rajan aide DK Rao who is contesting from ward no 175 on a RPI (A) ticket, has Rs12.88 lakh property, both movable and immovable. His movable assets include Rs20,000 cash and two vehicles-Innova and an autorickshaw along with 86gm jewellery. However, his most valuable asset is his 100-sq-ft house worth Rs10 lakh.

When DNA tried to get the details of Sunita Chavan, sister of underworld don Chhota Rajan and another RPI (Athawale) candidate, returning officer Ujjwala Gurakhe of the M(West) ward refused, stating the affidavits are not to be shown to the public. Chavan is contesting from ward no 145. BMC assistant election officer Ramesh Arothe said the details were available with the PRO officials, which was not the case till Thursday evening.
