A couple, both scriptwriters of Bhojpuri film and serials, was stabbed by their domestic help at their Goregaon residence on Sunday morning. The reason? The man had not been paid his salary for the past three months.
Hearing the couple’s screams, the neighbours arrived, nabbed the domestic help, Narendra Kumar Kajal and handed him over to Goregaon police station. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but later admitted to Nair hospital as the wife’s condition was critical.
According to the police, the couple, Ashok Basak, 34, and his wife Parmeshwari hired Basak four months ago. “His personal details were not submitted to the police station. Since the past few days, Kajal was asking for his outstanding salary but the couple was repeatedly ignoring his requests, saying that they will pay him soon,” said a police officer.
On Sunday morning, the police said that Kajal arrived at the Basak residence in an inebriated condition. Basak was taking a bath while his wife was in the living room. Kajal got into an argument with Parmeshwari about his salary, and in a fit of rage, got a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her in her abdomen and neck,” said police inspector Deepak Gujar of Goregaon police station.
“Hearing her screams, Basak came out of the bathroom but was stabbed by Kajal on his right arm and face,” added Gujar.
The landlady, Jamuna Solanki, said, “Hearing the couple’s cries for help, we immediately rushed to their apartment but found it locked from the inside. Within minutes, Basak’s wife managed to open the door and collapsed outside.”
“We nabbed Kajal and meanwhile, the police was informed about the incident by another neighbour. It was good that the couple locked the door so Kajal could not run away. The police arrived in a few minutes and we handed over Kajal to the police,” added Solanki.
