As part of its corporate social responsibility (SCR), city-based Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation (SIOR) will be organising a free health camp for financially weak patients on June 26; from 10am to 5pm.

The camp will be held to commemorate the 75th birthday of the founder of the hospital, Dr KH Sancheti and the 40th Foundation Day of the hospital.

Dr Sancheti, an eminent orthopaedic surgeon and recipient of Padmashree and Padmabhushan awards, told reporters that the programme is organised for needy patients as a thanksgiving gesture and to celebrate the hospital’s successful year with a difference.

Patients who attend the camp will undergo a screening test and 75 patients will be selected on the basis of their economic background and necessities.

The operations that will be conducted include joint replacement surgery, spine surgery, paediatric orthopaedic, plastic surgery and trauma-otology. All the surgeries will be conducted free of cost.

Chairman of Sancheti Institute Dr Parag Sancheti said that such camps were organised in Pimpri, Shirur, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Bilaspur, Raipur and Dhulia last year.

“Such activities are just to enhance our responsibility as a corporate organisation,” he said.

The assistant medical director of the hospital, Dr Chetan Pradhan, said that the operations, which include implantations as well, will be undertaken for the next one year.
