Four-year-old killed, six injured in Thane wall collapse

According to police, the incident took place when construction of a roadside gutter was in progress by the side of the house when the wall caved in burying the child, identified as Shivam Baid, alive under the debris.

A four-year-old child was killed and six others injured when the wall of a house collapsed in Wagle Estate area in Thane this evening, police said.

According to police, the incident took place when construction of a roadside gutter was in progress by the side of the house when the wall caved in burying the child, identified as Shivam Baid, alive under the debris.

Those injured have been identified as Preeti Kaher, Suman Kahre, 30, Prema Baid, 50, Manju Baid, 24, Ravi Baid, 28, and Reena Baid, 23 and were admitted in Thane civil hospital, police said.

The fire engines found it difficult to reach the spot in Roopadevi Pada where the house was located.

Shree Nagar police are carrying out further investigations in the incident, the police said.

Immediately after the incident, residents of nearby Valmiki Pada marched to the office of the local BSP corporator Suresh Kamble and ransacked it, they said.

However, no arrest has been made so far in connection with the incident.
