When terrorists were busy planting bombs across the city, robbers too were on their toes at Zaveri Bazar.
A few hours after the blast, a businessman from Zaveri Bazar was robbed in Vithoba Lane in the Vithalwadi area of Zaveri Bazar of Rs27.5 lakh.
The robbery happened 150 feet away from the blast site.
The complainant Bharat Jain was in his office and had kept the bag containing the cash in his office for some business deal.
He was praying in a small temple inside his office and had kept the bag near him when three unidentified persons barged in and fled with the bag.
Jain chased them and raised an alarm when a estate agent from Zaveri Bazaar saw one of the robbers running towards Mumbadevi temple.
He kicked him and the robber fell but he managed to escape.
“I kicked the robber and he fell but he again started running. I managed to get hold of the robber’s bag, which contained some debit cards, a driving licence and some papers,” said Sharad Kavatkar, 40, the estate agent.
“I also managed to get hold of his chopper. We have handed over the bag to the police,” he added.
The LT Marg police have registered a case but after the blast at Zaveri Bazaar a few hours later, the police machinery has been busy in the blast investigation.
