Lokhandwala teenager Manan Khakar, who plays for Mumbai’s under-19 cricket team, was allegedly assaulted by two drunken security supervisors on Sunday.

The victim’s family claim that Amboli police did not subject the accused to an alcohol test and only filed a non-cognisable complaint. However, a policeman claimed that “it was a minor assault and did not deserve an FIR”.

According to Rajesh Khakar, Manan’s uncle, the incident occurred at Royal Classic building when Manan and his elder brother Prithvi were returning from a practice session in an auto.

Witnesses said that the driver sped up a little while entering the gate, prompting the watchmen to stop the vehicle. This led to a verbal feud. The victim and his brother tried to intervene. The security guards and their two supervisors, identified as Santosh Suman and Neeraj Prasad came up to their sixth floor flat and punched Manan.
