Nivedita Ghosh, a Class X student, had already begun to make plans with her friends for March 26, the day she thought their state board examinations will end. A chance verification with another friend made her realise that she had the wrong timetable.

State board examinations end on March 28, but several external source websites have left students confused with differing timetables.

“I had even planned my study schedule based on the timetable downloaded from an external website. But luckily, a friend had downloaded the correct timetable from the state board’s site. I realised my mistake when I verified it with hers,” says Ghosh, who had downloaded her timetable from one such external website that showed that the examinations end on March 26.

Several other students and parents have made similar complaints. RR Bhise, secretary of the state board, Mumbai division, cautions students against relying on such external sites for their timetables.

“We have received frantic calls from students and parents about the timetable. There seems to be confusion about the examination dates of some papers as well as of the last paper.

Parents and students should check the timetable only from the state board’s website and not trust external sources. Sometimes, these websites make mistakes while copying the timetable on their site.”

Bhise says state the board has sent copies of the timetable to every school affiliated to it. Schools have been asked to display this on their notice board. “Students can go and verify the timetable at school. They should follow only this timetable.”

Last year, during the higher secondary certificate examinations, many students missed out on their French paper, as some websites had carried a wrong examination date. “The French paper was in the afternoon and so, many students who did not check the timetable properly missed it. Students should check the timetable thoroughly,” stresses Bhise.
