A Delhi court today ordered a Kolkata correctional home superintendent to produce before it Nigerian national Egbedokun James Taiwo, facing trial for his alleged role in a case of drug abuse and peddling, involving late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul Mahajan.

Additional Sessions Judge SC Rajan, while issuing notice to the Residency Correctional Home superintendent, also issued warrant for Taiwo's production before it here on May 25.

Currently lodged at Kolkata Residency Correctional Home, Taiwo was brought before the Delhi court on the last date of the trial, but the home authorities failed to send him here today to appear before the court.

"Production warrant be issued against accused Taiwo and notice to the superintendent, Residency Correctional Home, Kolkata to produce the accused on the next date. Station House Officer (SHO) Tuglak Road police station is directed to send the wireless message to the superintendent today itself," the court said.

Rahul Mahajan is accused of consuming and distributing drugs at the official residence of his slain father in a late night party on June 2, 2006 involving liberal drug abuse.

Mahajan, along with his late father's secretary Vivek Moitra, was later admitted to Apollo hospital here in the wee hours of June 2, 2006, after allegedly consuming drugs. Moitra had later died in the hospital.

The sessions court earlier had framed charges against Mahajan and his accomplices Harish Sharma, Sahil Zaroo, Nigerian nationals Abdul Latif Ashola alias Mohd Abdullah, Taiwo and others under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the NDPS Act for their roles in the case.
