Mumbai Central Railway police on Monday arrested a couple from Rajasthan for allegedly kidnapping a two-year-old boy from Dadar railway station to sell the child to a childless couple.

“Samarsingh Choudhari, 35, and his wife Pushpa Choudhari, 35, were arrested from Kalsara village. The victim was handed over to his parents in Mumbai,” said senior police inspector Shivaji Shinde, Mumbai Central Railway police station. He added that the couple was remanded in custody till June 30.

Rajesh Sahu, 28, and his wife Madhavi Sahu, 23, live at Cotton Green. The Choudharis were their neighbours.  On May 13, Pushpa told Madhavi that she wanted to visit her native place. At the station, Pushpa asked Madhavi to get her ticket and promised to take care of her son. When Madhavi returned, she could not find her son. She then filed a police complaint and  ACP Dattatray Sidam’s team went to Parbhani and learned that Pushpa had not visited the place after her second marriage.

Samarsingh using a mobile contacted Madhavi Sahu, using his relative’s name to shift his goods to Mathura.Police suspected foul play and tracked the mobile number. Sidam’s team went to Alwar and nabbed the couple, added Shinde.
