Constable arrested on charges of killing woman colleague near Akola

The accused Nilesh has confessed to the crime and he admitted that he committed the brutal murder of his colleague in a rented house, just 20 feet behind the place where her body was found.

Police constable Nilesh Jadhav has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a lady police constable Sheetal Tayde Sardar, 30, police said today.

Sheetal's body with multiple injuries was found in a drainage of Khadki near Akola on Saturday morning, police said.

The accused Nilesh has confessed to the crime and he admitted that he committed the brutal murder of his colleague in a rented house, just 20 feet behind the place where her body was found.

Both were working in Patur police station. On April 13 Nilesh took her to the rented house and had sex with her, after that they had a quarrel over money matter. Then on last Friday night, the accused again took her to the rented house, quarrelled and in a fit of anger Nilesh hit her head with a pipe and later strangulated her to death. Sheetal's body was
dragged and dumped in the Nallah, police said.

The motive behind the murder is stated to be the illicit relation. Soon after the arrest, the accused has been hospitalised. He would be produced before magistrate after he was discharged from the hospital. Police seized the objectionable materials from him, police added.

Meanwhile, last rites of Sheetal were performed. Sheetal's husband is a taxi driver with two sons.

She joined the police department in 1997. She did not reach her house on Friday night, and later her body was found in the drainage at Khadki near Akola, police said.
