A standard XII girl student of Nowrosjee Wadia College was allegedly kidnapped in broad daylight by four unidentified suspects at 4 pm on Friday from the busy Mangaldas Road. She was later released in Khadki at 10.30 pm.

The 18-year-old collegian, daughter of a city businessman hailing from Bopodi, was forced into a cream-coloured van. She was repeatedly assaulted by the suspects in the vehicle.

After over five hours of the ordeal, the girl was finally set free by the suspects at 10.30 pm at an isolated area near Mariaai Gate in Khadki.

The girl’s father lodged an FIR at the Bund Garden police station
on Saturday.

He apprehended that Ramgopal Keshavnath Goyal, with whom he had business rivalry, could be behind the act.

There are two cases that are going on at the Cantonment court and Shivajinagar court involving the victim’s father and Goyal.

The victim underwent a medical examination, which ruled out
any sexual assault. The police claimed that the abductors did not demand any ransom from the victim’s father. They said the girl had gone to a shop on Mangaldas Road with one of her friends.

A cream coloured van stopped near the shop and called the
victim seeking her help in finding an address.

“The goons forced her into the car covering her face with a scarf and tying her hands before the vehicle sped away,” the police said.
The victim told the police that the suspects assaulted her many times and forced her to drink some liquid.

Police sub-inspector MN Sanadi, who is investigating the case, said the goons sent six SMSes to the victim’s father.

“In the last SMS sent at around nine in the night, they directed her father to collect her near the Saint High School near Khadki Bazar. The businessman rushed to the area. But could not find her,”
Sanadi said, adding that one of the suspects spoke to the victim
in Hindi.

Later, a patrolling party from the Khadki police station spotted the girl near Mariaai Gate standing alone.  “At around 10.53 pm the Khadki police alerted the control room. The girl gave her father’s contact number. He rushed to the spot and took his daughter back home. The Bund Garden police have prepared sketches of the four suspects.”
