Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule has taken up the issue of malnutrition of children in Melghat area of Vidarbha. She would visit the area on November 4 to understand the ground reality and get feedback on schemes implemented by the authorities. According to a press statement issued by her office, Sule would interact with the residents.

Maharashtra, considered one of India’s most developed states, is also home to a district that is in the grip of malnutrition. Along with Melghat, some areas in Nanded district and Nandurbar are also very sensitive to malnutrition. In the past four months, 266 children had died due to malnutrition in the area. Some doctors and social workers would join Sule in her visit to Melghat, Dharani and Chikhaldara as well as some other places in the vicinity.

In order to overcome the problem, Sule has written letters highlighting the issue to the governor, chief minister, deputy chief minister and all the ministers in the state cabinet. She has suggested some measures which would help to reduce the problem in the affected area of Melghat, said the statement.
