The civic body has finally completed repair work on the collapsed underground drain at Kalachowkie and reinstated Barrister Nath Pai Road in three months. The road will open for traffic from Wednesday and BEST buses will start plying from Thursday.

The road at Shravan Yashwante Chowk, Kalachowkie, had caved-in on February 23 due to the collapse of an underground drain. The cave-in left a huge crater, measuring approximately 10ft x 20ft, in front of the BEST bus stop at the junction of Shravan Yashwante Chowk.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident that occurred at 6.30 am, despite the spot swarming with children of at least four schools and early office-goers, who were shocked to see so vast a
cavity suddenly form before their eyes.
