After organising a successful Vidarbha bandh on January 20, pro-Vidarbha leaders are making preparations for a 'Jail Bharo' agitation on March 23 to draw attention of the state and the Central leadership towards the separate statehood demand issue.

A meeting held under the banner of Vidarbha Rajya Sangram Samiti held here yesterday chalked out the strategy for making the 'civil disobedience' call a success.

The meet was attended prominently by former Union minister and Nagpur MP Vilas Muttemwar, Wardha Congress MP Datta Meghe, former MPs Prakash Ambedkar (Bharip BMS), Banwarilal Purohit (BJP), Jambuwantrao Dhote and Naresh Pugalia (Cong) and former Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee MPCC) president Ranjeet Deshmukh.

Former minister Nanabhau Embadwar, BJP legislators Davendra Phadanvis, Sudhakar Deshmukh, former State DG of police, Prabir Chakravorty, Dr Govind Varma and Prakash Gajbhiye (RPI-A) also attended the meeting.

The meeting decided to hold demonstrations in front of Tehsil Offices, Sub-Divisional Offices, Police Stations and State Government offices including Collectorates followe  by 'jail bharo' agitation programme.

Later briefing newsmen, Ambedkar said those fighting for the cause will have the status of freedom fighters of Vidarbha in due course.

The future course of action will be decided after jail bharo agitation, he said.

Like the historic spontaneous cent percent bandh on January 20, the 'Jail Bharo' on March 23 will also be "historic" and send a clear message to the state and central leadership of peaceful and non-violent agitation, he hoped.
