The Bombay high court on Thursday disposed of a petition filed against actor Sanjay Dutt by his wife’s former husband Mehraj Shaikh. Shaikh, who was married to Manyata Dutt, had written a letter to high court alleging that Sanjay’s “underworld friends” had “abducted” his son. Shaikh wanted an FIR to be registered against the actor.

A division bench of justice BH Marlapalle and justice Anoop Mohta, while disposing of the petition, observed that the only
option before Shaikh is to file a private complaint seeking investigation against Dutt. Additional public prosecutor Mankunwar Deshmukh told the court that the police recorded Sanjay’s statement, in which the actor denied he had anything to do with this affair. Even Manyata has said that though she was once married to Shaikh, she never had a child by him.

However, according to Shaikh, Sanjay was putting pressure on him to withdraw a case of bigamy filed by him against the actor. Also, he alleged that Sanjay had threatened to implicate him in false cases.
