Armed forces medical meet begins tomorrow in Pune

The 59th annual armed forces medical conference, which will be held at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) from Wednesday, will discuss important research projects like post-traumatic stress disorders among seriously injured soldiers and human factors in aircraft accidents of the
Indian Navy.

Meetings of the 49th armed forces medical research committee (AFMRC) will also be conducted from Tuesday.

AFMC spokesperson, Colonel Abhijit Rudra said, “Almost 148 new research proposals will be considered and of these 32 have been submitted by Pune’s AFMC.” The research projects include one on hypertension and
vitamin D deficiency in soldiers.

The conference will be inaugurated by Lt Gen Naresh Kumar, officiating director general of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS).

Awards will be presented to 37 personnel for academic excellence by the officiating DGAFMS on Wednesday.
