After the city experienced summer-like hot spell during daytime on February 2 and 3 with mercury level touching 35 degree Celsius, temperature returned to normal over the past two days.
On Sunday, Santa Cruz weather station reported maximum temperature of 31 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 16.4 degree Celsius.
In Colaba, mercury rose to as high as 28.3 degree Celsius and dropped to a minimum of 21.2 degree Celsius.
The Santa Cruz station had recorded 31.6 degree Celsius and 18.4 degree Celsius as maximum and minimum temperatures respectively on Saturday.
Colaba had registered maximum temperature of 30.4 degree Celsius and minimum of 21.7 degree Celsius that day.
“Temperature returning to normal is an effect of western disturbances approaching the northern region. We expect the temperature to remain normal over the next two-three days,” said VK Rajeev, director, meteorological department.
Mumbaikars felt the heat after mercury level went up two days ago thanks to flow of easterly winds, which don’t carry moisture.
In February, maximum and minimum temperature around 31 degree Celsius and 19 degree Celsius are considered to be normal by the department.
