Pydhonie police has arrested five men who were allegedly planning to loot a shop but it turned out that the accused were hired to kill three persons in Pune.

On August 8, police got a tip-off that a gang of robbers were going to loot a shop at P D’mello Road. Police laid a trap and managed to arrest four while one managed to flee. The police seized a China made pistol and two choppers from their possession.

The four identified as Satish Patil, 39, Pradeep Yadav, Jaywant Shewale  (29), Vijay Kamble (26) and Lakshman Shewale (43), are history sheeters have been arrested several times for dacoity and robberies.

Police are looking for six more persons involved in the case.During interrogating police learnt that the four had been hired by a Pune-based businessman to kill the assailants of his brother.

“Santosh Badal had given Rs2 lakh to the accused to kill three men presently out on bail for murdering his brother Anna Badal,” said Shamsher Khan Pathan, senior police inspector of Pydhonie police station.

The police are suspecting land mafia as the cause behind Badal’s murder. “After interrogations we got a lead about an arms dealer who had supplied pistol to the gang. We arrested him on Sunday and presented him before court on Monday,” said Pathan.
