2 bikers snatch bag containing Rs.24 lakh from woman at Vakola

Two bike-borne miscreants snatched a bag containing Rs24 lakh from a 56-year-old woman at Vakola on Wednesday.  Police said Raji Menon, an employee with a private firm, was on her way to Deonar in a taxi when the incident took place. She was returning from Chennai after attending a wedding there.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Menon had kept the bag on her lap, and when the cab slowed down near a turn, the accused, who were following her on a motorbike, snatched the bag and escaped. Menon registered a complaint with the Vakola police.

The police have registered a case against two unidentified men. The cops are also in the process of preparing sketches of the accused and have alerted their informers about the incident.
