Parents gathered outside Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan school in Malad (West) to protest against the mid-term fee hike by the school authorities, without explanation.

The parents alleged that they had to wait for six hours to put forward their demands to the principal of the school.
According to them, the fee has been doubled in past three years from Rs750 to Rs1,450. The school had increased the fees for the purpose of ICSE board affiliation.

Two months later, “it switched to SSC board as its application was declined by ICSE board, but fees remained the same,” said a parent.

“The fees are being hiked every year in the name of development and recruitment of better teachers, but why should we be the only ones to bear the burden?” questioned another agitated parent.
The fee has to be paid before May 26 and the school closes on May 10, so action has to be taken before that,” said another parent.

The angry parents alleged that the school principal, Meenakshi Kilpady, was unresponsive to their demands and allegedly misbehaved with them when they met her for an explanation. Kilpady refused to comment when contacted by DNA.
