In an attempt to settle scores with a 26-year-old manager at Film City, who had apparently taken money from a man promising him a job but failed to keep his word, he along with two of his associates, allegedly kidnapped the youth in an SUV and robbed him, in Goregaon (W) on Thursday.

The Goregaon police have launched a manhunt for the three, but haven't made any arrest yet.

According to Goregaon police, the victim, Ganesh Jadhav, employed in Film City, is in charge of hiring contract labourers. A few days back, one of the accused, Lalit (last name not know), gave Jadhav Rs 4,000 to get an identification card of Film City. However, even after a month, Lalit didn't get an I-card.

"The incident took place between 8:30pm and 11pm near Siddharth Hospital in Siddharth Nagar, Goregaon (w). During the investigation it was revealed that the crime had been committed to settle scores," said an officer in Goregaon police station.

Jadhav had gone on Thursday evening to Siddharth Hospital to meet a labourer who had been hospitalised. He then received a call from Lalit inquiring where he was. Jadhav, who hadn't suspected anything, informed Lalit his whereabouts. After sometime, Lalit arrived at the spot in an SUV along with his friends and told Jadhav to accompany them for a cup of tea.

As soon as Jadhav got into the vehicle, the three of them allegedly attacked him with a torch and snatched Rs 71,000 he was carrying and also his ATM card. They then took him to an ICICI ATM kiosk in Andheri and withdrew Rs 30,000 using the card. Then they dumped him near Andheri and fled. Jadhav later approached the police and registered an FIR.

The Goregaon police have registered a case under sections 392 (robbery), 363 (kidnapping) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code.
