Woman who pushed man under local train held by Kurla Railway Police

According to police, the victim, Deepak Patwa was getting down from the foot overbridge when he accidentally bumped into the accused and an argument broke out between them.

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested by Kurla Government Railway Police (GRP) for allegedly pushing a man under a local train at Mulund railway station on Saturday after the victim accidentally bumped on her.

The accused has been identified as Manisha Lakadiya. According to police, the victim, Deepak Patwa was getting down from the foot overbridge when he accidentally bumped into the accused and an argument broke out between them. Suddenly, another man also jumped into the argument and pushed Patwa on the railway tracks where he came under the wheels of an incoming local train. Patwa was rushed to a hospital by a GRP official, where he succumbed to his injuries.

A case under Sections 302 (Punishment for murder) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code was registered by the Kurla GRP after CCTV footage showed that the arrested accused and another man pushed Patwa.

"After registering a case, we scrutinised the footage and identified the woman. We then traced her address and arrested her frorm her residence in Chembur. We are still on the lookout for another man," said Mahesh Balwantrao, Senior Police Inspector of Kurla GRP.
