The inquiry report into the security breach during the swearing-in ceremony of Devendra Fadnavis on October 31 has indicted three policemen, including an officer, for laxity. These cops, sources said, were posted at the Pavilion gate of Wankhede stadium.

BJP worker Sanjay Bedia had approached the police alleging that one Anil Mishra had gained unauthorised access to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Fadnavis during the event. The special branch had also confirmed that no special pass was allotted to Mishra to go to the dais.

On November 7, the Marine Drive police had arrested former Anil Mishra, who claimed himself as a BJP member, on charges of personating as a public servant and criminal trespass.

Following this fiasco, a probe was ordered to ascertain what led to the security breach. The police then prepared a chart of those policemen who were on duty at the entry-exit points of the stadium.

According to the police, in the CCTV footage Mishra is seen entering the stadium with Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad around 5.38pm and heading towards the VVIP players' gate.

"The footage also revealed that Mishra was stopped by the policemen guarding the gate but he reportedly managed to sneak in saying that he was Prasad's secretary and would immediately return. The policemen then got back to their job. Mishra entered the stage, following Prasad, where entry was permitted only to those with special passes," said a police source.

"Three policemen, including an officer, has been found guilty and the report has been sent to the commissioner's office," said the source.

Mishra was found mingling with VVIPs such as Modi, who is protected by the special protection group, and Fadnavis, who enjoys Z-plus cover. The gatecrasher also got himself clicked with other dignitaries like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Ravi Shankar Prasad. He later uploaded the photos on the social media.
