The state higher and technical education department told dna on Saturday that it has directed engineering colleges across the state to upload all institutional details such as  fee structure, placement details and even alumni activity on their websites for the benefit of the students.

“We wanted colleges to display all information such as the previous year placement details, total number of seats, alumni activity, infrastructure details, teacher profiles, fee structure and so on,” said Rajesh Tope (pictured), minister of higher and technical education department.

“This isn’t a new rule. It’s an old rule prescribed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) that we are just reinforcing so that the students have all possible information about the colleges before filling forms,” the minister added.

With this announcement, the directorate of technical education has also alerted students and parents and asked them to thoroughly check the details of the institutions before filling up forms.

The process for online submission of admission forms for engineering Centralised Admission Process (CAP) started on June 7.  According to the technical education department, the provisional merit list will be declared on June 16 after which the students will have two days to make changes in their forms if any. The first merit list will be declared on June 18.
