Two students drown in Vasai river

Two youngsters died after drowning in a Vasai river on Saturday. Both the 20year-olds were students of Vidyavardhini College of Engineering and Technology at Vasai (west). One of them was the son of Bhausaheb Vartak Polytechnic College principal's son. Incidentally, the principal, PM Patidar's elder son too had died after drowning a few years ago, a police official said.

On Saturday, Varun Patidar, Aniket Gosavi and two others had gone for a swim in a river in Poman village. While Varun and Aniket jumped into the water, the other two waited by the bank. "The duo went to swim but the current was too strong and pulled them in," said a Valiv police official. "They misjudged the depth and drowned. Their bodies were fished out later." They were declared dead before beind brought into a primary healthcare center. The police has registered a case of accidental death.
