The Yellow Gate police have arrested two more people in connection with the seizure of 14 Reliance Communications SIM cards that were procured using bogus documents.
The duo has been identified as Akshay Nikam, 22, and Suhas Sridhankar, 37. The police had earlier arrested Rameshkumar Jain, 44, a resident of Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar in Ghatkopar (E) in the said case.
On January 23, Mumbai Port Trust authorities caught Kurla resident Abdul Kalam Mahbulla Khan, 73, with the 14 SIM cards inside the dock area handed over him to the police. Investigations showed that all the cards had been procured from Reliance Communications by producing forged copies of Aadhaar cards. While the documents bore the stamp of Nasim Communication in Govandi, the address turned out to be fake.
Apart from Khan, subsequent probe revealed involvement distributor Jain, retailers Nikam and Sridhankar in the crime. They wanted to make some quick buck, said the police.
