Two held for raping minor at Oshiwara

The Oshiwara police on Monday arrested two persons on charges of allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at Anand Nagar in Oshiwara on Sunday.

The police said that as per the victim, one of the accused is her boyfriend Salman Sayyed (22) and the other is his friend Javed Shaikh (28), both residents of Oshiwara.

In October 2015, the victim and Sayyed entered a heated argument over an issue and their relations had turned sour. After which the duo decided to call the girl at Shaikh's residence.

"On Sunday evening, the victim was called at Shaikh's residence and there was nobody in the house. The girl was later raped by the duo. After the incident, the girl immediately registered a complaint at the Oshiwara police station, following which the police nabbed both Shaikh and Sayyed," said a police officer.

"We have arrested the accused men. After the preliminary investigations, we came to know that the victim knew Shaikh. They are in police custody and shall be produced in court on Tuesday. We have charged them for gang rape under respective sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and are currently awaiting the medical report of the victim," added the officer.
